Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have announced the signing of Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani as a temporary replacement for South African pacer Lungi Ngidi for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. This strategic move comes as Ngidi departs to join the South African squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia at Lord's, scheduled from June 11 to 15. RCB has secured Muzarabani for a fee of ₹75 lakh.
Muzarabani, known for his tall, hit-the-deck bowling style, has represented Zimbabwe in 12 Tests, 55 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and 70 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). Although uncapped in the IPL, he has previously been part of the IPL setup as a net bowler for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) during the 2022 season. He is also included in Zimbabwe's Test squad for the upcoming four-day match against England in Nottingham, starting May 22.
Ngidi will be available for RCB's upcoming league fixture against Sunrisers Hyderabad at home on May 23. However, he will leave the IPL by May 26 to prepare for the WTC final. RCB's next league fixture is on May 27 in Lucknow. With the team having qualified for the playoffs, the final two league matches are crucial. A win in one and a loss in the other could allow both Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings to surpass RCB's points tally, potentially denying them a top-two finish.

This strategic signing of Muzarabani aims to bolster RCB's pace attack as they continue their campaign in the tournament. The team is also anticipating the return of Josh Hazlewood, who is currently recovering from a shoulder injury in Australia but is expected to join the RCB squad ahead of the playoffs. Hazlewood is also set to feature in the WTC final, which starts on June 11.
