In the final league match of IPL 2025, Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans by a massive margin of 83 runs. Despite securing their fourth win of the season, Chennai could not qualify for the playoffs.
The match concluded with MS Dhoni taking a catch off Sai Kishore’s shot. After the game, Dhoni stated that he would decide in four to five months whether he would play in the next season.
Batting first, Chennai posted a formidable total of 230 runs for 5 wickets. South African batter Dewald Brevis smashed 57 runs off just 23 balls, including five sixes. Devon Conway contributed 52 off 35 balls, Ayush scored 34 off 17, Urvil Patel made 37 from 19, and Ravindra Jadeja added 21 off 18 balls.
In response, Gujarat Titans were bowled out for 147 runs in 18.3 overs. Opener Sai Sudharsan scored the highest for the team with 41 runs. For Chennai, Anshul Kamboj took 3 wickets for 13 runs, while Noor Ahmed grabbed 3 wickets for 21 runs.
With this defeat, Gujarat Titans ended the league stage with 18 points from 14 matches. However, teams like Mumbai, Punjab, and Bengaluru still have a chance to surpass them, putting Gujarat’s direct qualification for the playoffs at risk.
