Erdogan Stands Firm with Pakistan Despite India’s Boycott Campaign

Ankara, Turkey – Despite escalating tensions and widespread boycott movements in India, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has reiterated his steadfast support for Pakistan, referring to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as his "precious brother" and emphasizing the enduring bond between the two nations.

Following India's launch of Operation Sindoor, a counter-terror initiative responding to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, Erdoğan expressed solidarity with Pakistan, stating, "As in the past, we will continue to stand by you in good times and bad in the future."

This declaration comes amid revelations that Turkish-made drones, specifically the Asisguard Songar models, were utilized by Pakistan in cross-border attacks against India. Indian Wing Commander Vyomika Singh confirmed the origin of these drones, intensifying public outrage and fueling the #BoycottTurkey movement across India.

In response to Turkey's stance, Indian citizens and businesses have initiated a comprehensive boycott of Turkish products and services. Major travel platforms, including Ixigo and MakeMyTrip, have suspended bookings to Turkey, citing national sentiment and security concerns.

He praised Pakistan's "patient, sensible, and moderate attitude" during the crisis and expressed hope for continued collaboration between the two nations.

India's diplomatic and public backlash underscores the complexities of international alliances and the implications of foreign policy decisions on bilateral relations.
