The attack occurred just hours after Russia and Ukraine engaged in a significant prisoner exchange, each side releasing 390 individuals. This exchange, facilitated near the Belarus border, was part of a broader agreement brokered in Istanbul aimed at fostering trust and paving the way for potential ceasefire negotiations.
However, the juxtaposition of the massive aerial assault with the prisoner swap has raised questions about Russia's commitment to peace.
